Welcome to the second chapter of my Artist Blog! I’m going back to Germany for my second Artist Residency!
So today is the big day – I’m leaving. I’m flying out of Boston at 5:15. There will be a stop in Copenhagen at midnight, but I don’t think it will be long enough to stop by a drinking den for a tall glass of gløgg. Once I leave the City of Spires, about three hours later I’ll be landing in Stuttgart. What will be 3AM for me will be 9AM for everyone else in…..y’know….the real world. Fortunately I have a genuine talent or tolerance for being out of synch with everyone else in the real world, so I’ll be just fine. Plus…is there anything Starbucks can’t cure? However tired or extremely alert I am when I am in Stuttgart at 9AM tomorrow, I will then have to take a bus to Horb am Neckar, a gorgeous old world town on the outskirts of the Black Forest. The only problem is, buying a bus ticket when everything is written in a language that you don’t read or speak very well can be tricky. I think the distance by bus from Stuttgart to Horb is either one hour and fifteen minutes, or fifteen hours and one minute. We’ll see.
But let’s back up a bit: It was around noon today when I threw my luggage in the back of my Crosstour. Once the luggage is in the car, that’s it – nothing else will be added or subtracted. The packing is done and I….am…outta…here!
At about 12:20 I arrived at the Peter Pan Bus Terminal in Providence. Taking a bus to Boston to catch my flight seemed like the logical choice. The tickets are cheap, they drop you at the right gate, and you don’t have to have one of your friends get stuck in traffic. The world doesn’t need to hear more swearing.
In this picture I’m waiting just outside the terminal. My ship has come in, but my bus hasn’t.
Alright so I’m on the bus. In fact I was the first one on the bus. I picked a window seat a few rows behind the driver.
The excitement builds when I see the Boston skyline – Logan Airport is not far off!
Once I get to the airport I’m waiting waiting waiting to board, and then……….it finally happens! I’m on the plane!!! This is the view from my seat:
Hope to get some sleep tonight! Tomorrow I’ll be in Horb am Neckar, Germany! WOO-HOO!!!
I’ll keep you posted!
